Climb aboard for the swashbuckling adventure of a lifetime. Treasure Islandhas enthralled (and caused slight seasickness) for decades. The names Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins are destined to remain pieces of folklore for as long as children want to read Robert Louis Stevenson's most famous book. With it's dastardly plot and motley crew of rogues and villains, it seems unlikely that children will ever say no to this timeless classic. --Naomi Gesinger

A great piece for any teenager The book "Treasure Island" became my first consciously chosen book for extracurricular reading. I never really liked what I went through at school, but foreign adventure literature aroused interest. And so, choosing Stevenson's great work for myself, I set off into a world full of adventure, betrayal and friendship. The author writes very vividly, you perfectly represent each character, you understand his motivation. And of course you associate yourself with the main character Jim Hawkins, because I was about the same age as him. The vast expanses of the ocean, an interesting story, the intertwining of destinies — all this makes you read page after page, often forgetting about food and sleep. And, probably, for the first time I thought about the greyness of this world thanks to this book. The world is not divided into good and bad, black and white. It's grey. The characters who defend their points of view and interests, as they are spelled out in the book, show that each of them is guided by one or another belief. And each of them is neither bad nor good. He just exists, they live their lives, they are people. It should be noted that despite the fact that the novel was written almost 140 years ago, it reads easily and simply. But in those days, many authors gravitated towards the syllable, which is heavy for readers today, which knocks them off the rhythm. "Treasure Island" is a wonderful story that is interesting at any time and at any age, plays with colors, invites you to an unprecedented voyage and gives you an adventure with pirates. 9 out of 10
