Πέρα μακριά στις αχαρτογράφητες ερημιές της πιο μπανάλ περιοχής του Δυτικού Σπειροειδούς βραχίονα του Γαλαξία βρίσκεται ένας εντελώς ασήμαντος, μικρός γαλαζοπράσινος πλανήτης, που οι κάτοικοί του, μια μορφή ζωής που κατάγεται από πιθήκους, είναι τόσο πρωτόγονοι που πιστεύουν ακόμη πως τα ψηφιακά ρολόγια είναι μια πανέξυπνη ιδέα. Πολλοί άνθρωποι ήταν κακοί και οι περισσότεροι ήταν δυστυχείς, ακόμα κι αυτοί με τα ψηφιακά ρολόγια. Όλο και πιο πολλοί ήταν της γνώμης πως ήταν ένα μεγάλο λάθος που κατέβηκαν από τα δέντρα. Μερικοί έφτασαν να λένε πως ακόμα και τα δέντρα ήταν μια άσχημη κίνηση και πως δεν έπρεπε καν να έχουν βγει από τους ωκεανούς.
