Marg is a thirty-three year old black woman who is as brainy as she is attractive. She had never had any problem attracting men in droves, even the crème de la crème, but what she has had a problem doing is finding that all elusive Mr. Right among the haystack of needles at her disposal.
She is at her wits end, until she meets the very handsome and white Arnold Winston, a former Detroit City councillor she used to know. When they bump into each other by chance, they start to date and talk over the disastrous affairs of a bankrupt Detroit. They are immediately smitten with each other, and develop a serious relationship. Not only do they share a growing fondness for each other, but a profound love for the decrepit cash starved city they grew up in. One thing leads to another, and Arnold is suddenly running for mayor of Detroit City, with Marg as his attractive, and genius campaign manager. At first it seems an uphill battle, because black Detroit citizens feel that the rich white Arnold is out of touch with their problems and concerns. The personable and charming Marg, however, campaigns front and center for her white boyfriend, and she fast becomes the darling of the press, not to mention very popular with the very volatile Detroit electorate. In the back of her mind, however, is the growing concern that the man of her dreams, and the one she has so suddenly and hopelessly fallen in love with, may not want to continue the relationship if and when he should take over the mayor's office.
She cannot live without him, and her heart aches for him to make her his permanent one and only. But he isn't revealing what his intentions might be one way or the other. She must pass through the gauntlet of torturous time to discover where she will finally stand. In her past relationships, she has been left broken hearted while being relegated to the mere flavor of the month. Yet, she has much higher expectations for the man of her dreams. She'll just have to wait and see what he is thinking, because despite all her prodding and asking, he is keeping his cards close to his vest. Perhaps too close?
