The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first 3D open-world game in the Zelda series. Link can travel anywhere and be equipped with weapons and armor found throughout the world to grant him various bonuses. Unlike many games in the series, Breath of the Wild does not impose a specific order in which quests or dungeons must be completed. While the game still has environmental obstacles such as weather effects, inhospitable lands, or powerful enemies, many of them can be overcome using the right method. A lot of critics ranked Breath of the Wild as one of the best video games of all time.

Link is awakened in a room by a voice calling him and learns that he has been asleep for 100 years after failing to stop a monster called Calamity Ganon. Although the monster is being held in Hyrule Castle by Princess Zelda, Calamity Ganon's power continues to grow and if not stopped he will eventually break free with enough power to destroy the entire world. Link embarks on his quest to defeat Calamity Ganon and save Hyrule and Zelda.

Okay. I have so many opinions on this masterclass of a game that I'm not even going to bother writing almost any of them. I'm currently on play through number who-knows? (over 1000 hours btw) (yeah I'm rich and humble as well, so humble) (if you don't get the reference then umm, watch botw content idk bro) It's just so good. So good. Like it has faults, certainly, but also, like, it's so good that the faults just fade away. It has like next to no story, sure, but it leaves you on the exact balance where there's just enough to read into, and build upon. Like before it's sequel, people would theorise so much about the zonai who we had like 3 armour pieces with text, and some statues IIRC. The music and ambience. Like. I want to scream. It's so good. It's so atmospheric. It manages to tie in classic tunes from older games and remix them to feel new. Standing in a field and those few notes play, the slight chirp of a cricket as you explore at night, the mysterious feeling of the korok forest. I genuinely have spent so many hours in this game, and I just walk around collecting materials, refusing to use a horse or wind bomb (best glitch in the game btw, if you've never played, learn how to wind bomb and omg it is a godsend) (also if you're new please play your first play through with no horse, it encourages extra exploration and leads you to find things you never would otherwise) (yes I know I contradicted myself it's okay). Anyways, the feeling you get riding a horse and the faint melody overlaps it. Ugh. The world is so well made, and it feels open and empty, yet you never feel bored exploring it, and it just perfectly manages to place everything just so exploring feels fresh and exciting. I could go on and on about all of its amazing highlights, yet it's mild pitfalls. But what I'd like to say is that Breath of the wild is such a beautiful breaking of the Zelda mould, inspiring so many other games which I hold almost just as dearly, that It is absolutely key that one plays it at least once, or at least gives it a go. If anyone out there is reading this and is wondering whether to play, please do. If it's not for you, then okay, a bit please, come in with an open, explorative, and, and tackle everything it has to offer. ( i'll probably edit it to add more once I play another run, I'm running out of time)
