Leave your mark on history The film "Pay It Forward" was released several decades ago, but this picture still stands out in my memories. I saw this movie as a teenager, and now, a couple of decades after watching it, I understand how the attitude towards the film, its understanding, can change. Of course, it depends on the age of the viewer. We are changing, and the attitude towards this or that work, in particular to this film, is changing. At first, the story was very hooked, over time it turned into a kind of impossible fairy tale that was shown on the screen, and now I think that this is a necessary story that calls on all people of the world to become at least a little kinder and more unselfish, not to expect gratitude from others for their actions, and maybe one day become the very person who to whom "someone will pay in advance", this chain of good deeds will return your start, and this help will be very important and timely for you. The main character of the film, the director's chair of which was occupied by Mimi Leder ("Peacemaker", "Collision with the Abyss"), is a boy named Trevor. The guy is doing the job of a new teacher, who was perfectly played by Kevin Spacey. Trevor is going to change the world with the help of the "Pay It Forward" concept, in which he will help three people, who in turn will help the other three people. The experiment is interesting, but quite difficult to implement, which the viewer observes on the screen. The concept of the work, which, by the way, takes as a basis the novel of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde, allows you to feel the ambiguity of this approach of assistance and trace the interesting evolution of the main characters of the film. The film does not appear as a Hollywood beautiful story where the hero succeeds. On the contrary, this film is intended to show how important it is not to flirt with real life, but to be aware of the possible consequences for yourself and others for your actions. Real life may be inspired by a colorful story from the screen, but this is not a call to action by copying. Every seemingly positive initiative should be well thought out and applied in the harsh realities of our world. After all, our world is full of unpleasant surprises and is ready to grind altruists, throwing them away as unnecessary. But also, "Pay It Forward" allows you to look at humanity with hope. After all, one way or another, good deeds can work miracles and improve people's lives, teach them to live correctly and according to their conscience, find their happiness and, at least sometimes, accept selfless help, and not suspect an assistant of something hypocritical and bad. Sadly. But today our society is used to the fact that if a person is ready to help just like that, then he is clearly pursuing some kind of goal for himself. Gone is the distant time when people were ready to help each other just like that. Hmm. Was there a time at all? The picture itself turned out to be memorable. All this became possible thanks to an excellent script, high-quality directing and excellent acting. Haley Joel Osment became a real discovery of his time. The guy looks organically in the frame, keeps the whole movie on himself, and his character is remembered for an amazing story. Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt are good in the frame. They perfectly demonstrate contradictory characters who have to learn to live and understand each other and themselves, while relying on the child's uncluttered mind. At some point, Trevor, played by Osment, becomes a mentor to Arlene (Helen Hunt) and Eugene (Kevin Spacey). The film is considered too dramatic. Yes. I thought so too in the past. But, as I said at the beginning of my story, the attitude towards the picture changes with age. We all grow up, see the world from a different angle, through the prism of our own experience. And so now I am ready to accept this picture as it is to the fullest, getting used to the dramatic approach that we see on the screen. I just think that we should see something more behind this drama and bring at least a piece of positivity from this picture into the real world. Sometimes it is difficult, because we all live in a frenzied rhythm of society, where it is not possible to think about other people's problems when you are drowning in your own. But you should learn to do it, to help other people, because if at least those who you help today learn to do it, it is likely that after a while such help will return to you through the concept of "Pay It Forward". The film came out memorable. He is interesting, instructive, and extraordinary. The picture will definitely be remembered and will become one of your favorites, which maybe the audience will want to review again and even show it to others, thereby "paying in advance" and just smiling at a good response for the recommendation. 9 out of 10
