The Final Chapter for Daniel Craig's James Bond
The previous film of the Spectrum franchise turned out to be a rather weak project, in my opinion, and although it was generally watchable, it cooled my interest in the franchise. It lasted exactly until I saw the trailer for the movie "It's not time to Die." The picture was announced as the last with the participation of Daniel Craig in the role of the legendary 007 agent, which also made us expect the completion of the entire story of this Bond and a bold dot in the narrative of the current stage of Bond.
The film came out decent. Craig's final work is memorable. Vivid scenes, a non-trivial plot, the pinnacle of character development, which turned into something more than just a British intelligence agent. In this film, Bond tries on a new role — the defender of loved ones, when the professional skills of a spy and a murderer allow himself and his loved ones to survive.
The film focuses on the story of James Bond's lover, who became the heroine of Lea Seydoux named Madeleine. I liked the girl in the last picture, her heroine successfully fit into the Bond story, and in this film a man from the heroine's past is trying to destroy her world, simultaneously annoying Bond and at the same time the whole world.
The antagonist was actor Rami Malek, who relatively recently literally burst into Hollywood thanks to such high-profile projects as "Bohemian Rhapsody", "The Devil in the Details" and "Mr. Robot". He had interesting movie appearances before, but it was the projects announced above that made him recognizable, at least to me. Malek introduces the audience to a man under the interesting name Lucifer Safin. A great character with an unusually deep and heavy gaze and an insinuating voice. This guy seemed to me to be a really dangerous rival of Bond, who gracefully opposed Bond's loved ones and himself.
I remember the appearance of Ana De Armas, who, though not for long, but quite effectively inscribed her character in the history of Bond. The nimble, dangerous and humorous girl became an excellent on-screen couple for the main character for a while.
The other heroes were also good. It was nice to see Felix Leiter, Bond's friend and CIA officer, played by Jeffrey Wright again. The meeting of friends was memorable and emotional, refreshing the memory of how strong friendship can be. Q and Moneypenny were not left idle. Good humor and the important role of two people for the overall narrative of the story. M, who was again played by Ralph Fiennes, was also in his place. The man finally became his own in this story, giving a reliable companion for James Bond.
It was impossible not to bring back Bond's nemesis. Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Christoph Waltz reappeared on the screen. A gorgeous dialogue and a really important moment of the picture, which was filled with threefold tension. Waltz's smile, his look, his manners are the true adornment of the character, which the actor managed to reveal in this particular picture. And the very scene of the conversation, where Bond, Blofeld and Madeleine were, made me watch the action with interest and anxiety.
An important role was played by the heroine of actress Lashana Lynch. The British agent who became 007 instead of Bond, as if ready to show that this job is up to the shoulder and a fragile girl. In fairness, it should be noted that Nomi, played by Lynch, did not cause any rejection, because evil tongues said that the girl was introduced into the picture in place of a British agent according to the requirements of the Hollywood agenda. The heroine is self-sufficient, interesting and plays an important role in this story.
The picture turned out to be an order of magnitude higher than the previous "Spectre". The grandiose large—scale denouement, the mass of the next beautiful locations, the gorgeous staging of shootouts, fights and chases - all this is present in the picture. It was the first time Cary Joji Fukunaga found himself in the director's chair of a Bond film, but he directed it perfectly. One can feel the hand of the master, who is already remembered for his works, including "Jane Eyre", "True Detective" and "Maniac".
The film was nominated for an Oscar again. In my opinion, this is an indicator of the quality of the project, although the award has recently been criticized for an overly tolerant approach to evaluating cinema. "No Time to Die" won the award for best song. This time Billy Irish and Finneas O'Connell presented the track "No Time to Die" to the world, which fully corresponds to the spirit of Bond. The soundtrack from the maestro and my favorite Hans Zimmer was good and strong.
This James Bond saga has come to an end. A separate narrative with a length of five films presented a long and full-fledged story of a hero from British intelligence. The films finally moved to a darker tone of narration, no longer presenting to the viewer action films with brave heroes and villains that were released 20 years ago. Bondiana has become a spy thriller, as if raising the bar for its projects, having staked out exactly this approach to the narrative of an English spy. The approach, in my opinion, turned out to be excellent and fresh.
James Bond ends on a loud note, he seems to have sorted out all his problems, showed himself as a true crime fighter, resolutely walked this long path, approaching the inevitable finale. He is proud and strong, brave and brave, he saves people's lives and, as it turned out, knows how to love very much.
Daniel Craig spent 15 years in this role, had cool and not very strong projects, but in general, this final chapter was a success for him, as well as for all the creators of the picture. Now Bondiana has taken a break. Interested viewers are waiting for a new actor for this role, I wonder what vector the new story will take. However, in these thoughts, as a spectator, I do not forget about the interesting path of Daniel Craig and his agent 007. Thanks for everything, James Bond. Your story was interesting.
