In this film, the hero of the permanent (so far) Sean Connery discovers for himself and for the audience the eastern country of Japan, where his help in saving the world is also needed. The film is not inferior to previous works about an English spy. It is dynamic, colorful, bright. But along with it, it also seems kind of silly. But that was the vision of the creators of the work. I think that in those years such an approach to works about fighters against global crime was justified. People are still trying to forget the horrors of the Second World War. Therefore, a certain naive comicality, the hypertrophied power of Bond and the accompanying details fully justify themselves. Such a movie is shot to become entertainment for the audience. An action movie should be spectacular and memorable. We need a strong hero who is ready to resist evil and win. In fact, we see on the screen what we have seen many times before. Stunts, chases, great special effects, new seduced beauties. Only the environment changes around, which brings a kind of novelty. And this, in my opinion, is a winning move by the creators of the picture. This James Bond movie is capable of surprising even today. Of course, if you make allowances for the fact that it was released back in 1967. A true challenge for the creators, who certainly gave an excellent visual component. They show us space and they do it very well. And it seems that the imminent conflict between the two superpowers makes it interesting to observe exactly how a British secret service agent will save the world from a possible world war. The topic of space exploration is not fully disclosed, but it perfectly demonstrates what thin ice people walk on in real life. After all, space, first of all, is an excellent springboard for new types of weapons, for another arms race, new confrontations, from which ordinary people are already tired. After all, those years were truly stressful. And this tension is perfectly transferred to the screen. The film was shot with a lot of problems. The language barrier in Japan, the rejection of the former screenwriters and the appointment of a new one (Roald Dahl), for whom "You only Live twice" became the first experience of writing a screenplay. There are also various kinds of injuries on the set, an annoyed Sean Connery, who believed that he was stuck in the role of an English agent, and much more. But the film still turned out to be good, has passed the test of time and looks very cool today. Bond's main enemy, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, is also very colorful. Donald Pleasence turned out to be quite good in the role of the villain. Although it is still difficult to perceive him as an equal to Bond in the person of Connery. Connery himself looks a little tired of his "missions" on the screen, but he is still ready to fight. The actor is on top, creates an atmosphere, is pleasing to the eye thanks to his unique acting and charisma. The film, along with the previous and several more subsequent works on Agent 007, looks good. This is an undying classic that you trust, it can give you a couple of fascinating hours when watching. You definitely know that the main character will be good, the villains will definitely lose, and several beautiful heroines will definitely fall into the arms of a tall Englishman. What only he does not go for the sake of saving the world on the planet. "You only Live Twice" is a worthy film of the series. It attracts, remembers, intrigues. A colorful action movie about a spy and his enemies, who, as always, raise the stakes.
