I have a secret: I see the dead…
I remember the movie "The Sixth Sense" very well. He stands on a par with those that have an unexpected ending, as you can now say "twist". And this finale really makes the whole story interesting, unusual and gives you goosebumps when in the final credits you sit with your mouth open and can't believe what happened.
The author of the project was a master of his craft Indian M. Night Shyamalan. His creativity is guessed here. The atmosphere of the film, dialogues, unhurried narration, an unexpected denouement — these are the trademark hallmarks of the master. Shyamalan gives the audience a great thriller, which is built in such a way that every frame keeps in suspense. And even if there are no monsters in the plot, watching the movie for the first time in the evening in a dark room, I involuntarily pressed myself into an easy chair, as if looking for protection in it. Is it not the skill of the director and a perfectly presented story?
The painting is stingy with bright colors. On the contrary, the film takes its gray muted tones, perfectly conveying through camerawork and high-quality music a certain surrealism of what is happening on the screen.
There are excellent actors in the frame. Despite the big name of Bruce Willis, I think that the real decoration of this masterpiece was the young actor Haley Joel Osment, who perfectly played a boy named Cole, who actually could see dead people and tried to share this with Malcolm, who was embodied on the screen by "Die Hard" Willis. The rest of the actors are good, but the duet of Willis and Osment became memorable.
I liked how the parallel storyline is served in the film. This is the relationship between the characters of Willis and Williams, who played the spouses. Each appearance of Anna Crowe, Malcolm's wife, is a kind of confrontation between the characters, who, as it seems to the viewer, have lost love and mutual understanding, distanced themselves from each other, and the wife does not listen to her husband at all. But the finale necessarily sets all the dots, allowing the viewer to finally understand the true reason for these complex relationships.
"The Sixth Sense" is an excellent original work that allows you to enjoy an unusual story. This is one of the best films of the director, who then gave us many more interesting pictures. My acquaintance with the author began with this painting in my childhood. Perhaps for this reason, I remember the film so much for its ambiguity and at the same time a gorgeous ending that it stuck somewhere deep in my soul and even decades later arrives somewhere there.
The film is definitely worth watching. This will allow you to enjoy the high-quality atmosphere of the action, to see the world through the eyes of someone who is different from us, a boy who can communicate with the dead. Assuming for a moment that this is generally possible, you suddenly realize how hard and lonely it is for this young boy, whom his own mother does not believe, and others consider crazy. And only the hero of Willis, it seems, eventually begins to believe him. And in the end, he is completely convinced of the rightness of the child.
