Classics for all time by Ridley Scott It is difficult to overestimate the epochal creation from the famous director Ridley Scott called "Blade Runner". This is now a well-established fiction that has passed the test of time and over a long history has won the favor of viewers around the world, besides revealing the birth of a whole trend, which is now commonly called cyberpunk. Taking as a basis the famous novel by Philip K. Dick "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" Sir Ridley supplemented the work, significantly revised it, breathing something new into his painting. This film was saturated with the atmosphere of the decline of the future, the dominance of various technological innovations, which at the same time, it seems to me, brought absolutely no joy to people. Society vegetates in a monstrous world of consumption, where a person and his personality are lost among a large crowd. Scott perfectly conveys the atmosphere of an authentic future, playing superbly with dark tones, and tells his story through the prism of a declining society. The genre that was born thanks to this picture is now recognized thanks to the noticeable features of this film. The world here is presented in the form of a night city with the presence of numerous bright neon colors, many advertising signs, and frequent rains. Here you will be greeted by futuristic, but angular cars that fly right in the clouds, corporations rule the world, and artificial people can meet among the inhabitants of the planet. They're replicants. The main character, played by Harrison Ford, will have to face a group of them. He is a representative of a special squad called the Blade Runners, who are fighting the appearance of replicants on Earth. And his mission is to find several dangerous representatives of artificial people in order to prevent their existence on our planet. Ford's hero Rick Deckard will do this with special interest for observation. The script and direction of the project allow you to plunge into the authentic world of the night metropolis, which is as familiar to everyone living in it as it is just as dangerous for them. The film poses a lot of questions to the audience, the main one of which boils down to drawing a line between real people and artificial ones. The topic is not new and even popular for that time. But, like any author, Philip K. Dick and Ridley Scott, who filmed this book masterpiece, answer this question in their own way. What is the role of man in this world? And who are the replicants? The latter are the offspring of the former, but how different are they? Where is the line between them, because everyone has their own consciousness, memory, and, I think, feelings. It will be difficult to answer, each viewer will decide for himself which verdict will be right for him. An important character, played by Sean Young, will help the viewer and the main character figure out this issue. Her Rachel is shrouded in mystery, she is a special heroine who allows you to better understand this world of people and replicants. The film is complex and viscous. You drown in it, it seems long and slow. However, now it would seem that these losing moments have become the hallmark of the work. The general plans of a dark city, towering pillars of fire somewhere in the distance, electronic sad music, like the sounds of loneliness of everyone and everyone in this huge metropolis - all this conveys the atmosphere of Scott's work. For this world, as if such wonderful actors as Rutger Hauer, Harrison Ford, Sean Young, Daryl Hannah, Bryon James and others have revealed themselves to the world. A great hit for everyone, creating unique and memorable characters. The picture will definitely make you think about the place of man in the modern world and the coming world of the future. Who will live next to us, how will we treat them, will the new artificial creatures pose a threat to humans? There are a lot of questions that are quite difficult to answer. But I will never forget that monologue of Rutger Hauer's character in the finale, his tears in the rain: "I saw things that you people never dreamed of. The attacking ships blazing over Orion; The rays of Si cutting through the darkness at the gates of Tannhauser. All these moments will be lost in time, like... tears in the rain...". It seems that this is the quintessence of the whole work, when not only Deckard rethinks the familiar reality, but the audience along with him. 9 out of 10
