A Unique Star Wars Novel The Jedi Code contains a short yet profound phrase about the nature of the world: "There is no emotion, there is peace". Anyone familiar with George Lucas’s universe can find something personal in that line — something that resonates with what "Star Wars" means to them. For me, Drew Karpyshyn’s novel "Revan" is closely tied to those words. It feels as if the author followed that principle while writing. The prose is remarkably even, the storytelling calm and steady. It's not devoid of emotion, but everything is presented with such restraint that you feel like you’re not reading about epic battles, but rather about a deep inner journey — a quest for truth and self-understanding. Karpyshyn, in my view, skillfully steers the reader away from the traditional "Star Wars" formula of constant drama and large-scale conflicts. The drama in "Revan" unfolds differently. The focus is on introspection, on a character study told through thoughts and subtle actions. Revan becomes a complex and layered protagonist. At the beginning of the novel, he remembers little. He’s searching for his path. But as the fog begins to lift, Revan makes a series of revelations that allow him to reevaluate the entire Jedi–Sith conflict from a new perspective. It’s in this mental and emotional wandering that he discovers his own unique way — and the reader receives something unexpected, something they may not have been prepared for. The writing is genuinely engaging — you find yourself flying through the pages. The characters are well-developed, feeling alive thanks to their actions and how they’re portrayed. The book clearly presents two main narrative lines — the Jedi and the Sith (naturally). Karpyshyn explores each side from his own angle, carefully building suspense toward the inevitable confrontation. And when that confrontation finally comes, the story gains momentum, drawing us into an even more gripping narrative. "Revan" is a strong and thought-provoking novel that *Star Wars* fans will surely appreciate. At the same time, it serves as an excellent entry point for newcomers beginning their journey into this vast universe. 8 out of 10
