A book about the formation of Darth Sidious I am sure that none of me was interested and remembered for a long time the interesting dialogue between Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker, when the first one told me that there was such a teacher — Darth Plagueis, who learned how to influence midi-chlorians and even create life with them. Since then, the world of Star Wars has expanded. I wanted to get to know this Sith better. And it's not because he's learned how to influence these little creatures. I wanted to know the history of the Emperor's teacher, as well as the long way that he went. James Luceno's novel perfectly reveals the whole world. The book describes in detail all the significant events of Palpatine's life and formation. And even though the book is called "Darth Plagueis", it pays the lion's share of attention to Sidious and his relationship with his mentor. Here we do not see any interesting and significant events between the Sith teacher and the Sith student, but rather learn how Palpatine managed in the political sphere, fighting his way up to power, to which he eventually came. The novel is very interesting to read. The book covers a long period of time. I really liked the fact that the work tells a lot of events that are somehow connected with the main branch of the narrative, which we saw in films and read in books on the second trilogy. Here the reader will be able to find out how those events that were not included in the films developed, but were no less important for the overall story. Many questions that appeared when watching movies are also revealed. They relate to Count Dooku and how he left the Jedi Order, for which Sifo Diaz ordered clones, and even raises the question of Anakin Skywalker's origin. On the other hand, it often felt as if these events were tailored to the canons of the films. But it was done by the author very carefully and with all respect for the original, which Lucas showed in his films. There is not much information in the book about the very topic of studying midi-chlorians, and this circumstance seems to leave the question open. Yes, there were experiments, yes, Plagueis studied the issue, but after you close the book after the last page, you are once again convinced that the author did not intend to reveal this topic, focusing on other equally interesting issues. And unwinding this tangle of events, you realize that the Sith began to weave intrigues quite a long time ago and the matter was not limited only to Sidious. The novel "Darth Plagueis", in my opinion, is a good and strong work by the author, which sheds light on many significant and interesting events in the Star Wars universe. This book will allow you to plunge into the world of intrigue and betrayal and will definitely find its admirers. 10 of 10
